While talking to Hanna over a coffee (well, let’s say a few cups) today, a thought formed in my mind that has always been there: all these grand clothes companies (and the small ones too, of course) should really go eco- and human friendly. I guess that’s partly why I mostly buy second hand (plus there’s something quite depressing about H&M). And then, of course, there was a documentary on tv about just that tonight. Something’s in the air. And I pledge to buy no newly produced garments unless I know it’s ethically and ecologically ok. I’m just sorry I might have to start to sow my own underwear eventually. Sounds boring. So get going you sweat-shop-owning-color-pumping-groundwater-polluting-people! I like the idea of buying clothes with a semi-clear consience!

ps. aluminium cans can be recycled forever. gotta love it.

the Swedish ps. för er som bor i Göteborg finns www.godsak.se, med bra listor över rättvist och ekologiskt i och omkring stan!

Hey guys!

I’m in Loreto; on our way to La Paz to pick up the fourth crew member, Mai, and then heading up to San Ignacio again in the morning. So finally in Mexico!! And it’s so beautiful here..!! I’ll try to get some photos out here soon, maybe this weekend when we’ll be back here in Loreto to pick up the volunteers… I’m sort of in a weird state, I guess like you always are when getting to a new place… It takes some time getting used to, and since I don’t speak Spanish it will take some extra time. to say the least… ;)  People are super nice though, and the nature is truly amazing, so I’m pretty sure I’ll be happy getting to know this place!!!

Time to get back on the road. Will have more to write about when I’ve started actually doing something… :)   Just to let you know I’m ok though; I’m more than ok!

 love

Sitting at Prado Cafe, reading Daughters of Copper Woman. So, this is how I celebrate the coming of the new year. Slightly hung over, having a coffee away from the rain. 2006 was an interesting year; and 2007 holds promises of being just as interesting… I’ll be leaving for Mexico on the 13th of January, taking the train south. Hopefully, a very good trip ahead. I will try my very best to make that come true! My address down there will be: c/o Ecoturismo Kuyima Morelos #23, esq. Miguel Hidalgo Zona Centro, San Ignacio, BCS 23930 Mexico Happy new 2007!!

So… Fixing the propeller on the boat didn’t go quite as we planned, the boat sort of ending up on its side instead of standing upright. It’s basically been a looong morning, first moving the boat at 2 am, then waking up at 5 when we noticed it was tipping over. Everything’s ok except we’re all just way too tired… Now, we’re trying to wash our clothes and take warm showers (being drenched wet by the rain and cold for a few hours), then after lunch the tide is coming in, and hopefully the boat will come up with it. Ah, a long day ahead still.

Today, the last day in Vanouver (for a while) - we spent most of it in a peace march. Sunny (a bit too sunny!), lots of people….great!!  Tomorrow morning at 5.30 the bus leaves for Port Hardy, a ten hour bus ride - eventually taking us to the boat which will bring us to the Great Bear Rainforest!
